What is Foreign Body Removal?
Foreign body impaction in the ear, nose, or throat is a common emergency, particularly in children. Prompt, skilled removal prevents injury to surrounding structures.
Common Symptoms & Indications
- Visible or felt object in ear, nose, or throat
- Pain, discharge, or bleeding from the affected area
- Difficulty hearing or breathing through nostril
- Choking or gagging sensation
- Redness or swelling around the affected area

Endoscope-guided extraction under adequate illumination using appropriate forceps or suction, minimising trauma to surrounding tissues.
What to Expect
Usually completed in a single outpatient visit. General anaesthesia may be required for uncooperative children or deeply impacted objects.
